James Patterson

James J. Patterson, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of SportsFan Magazine, is a lifelong sports aficionado and fan advocate. He believes that fans have a vested interest in the sports they follow and should demand a voice when it comes to "integrity of the game" issues. He attended his first Redskins game at DC Stadium in Washington, DC, in 1961 and never looked back. Patterson is a published writer, accomplished musician, frequent media commentator, and founder of SportsFan Magazine and SportsFanMagazine.com. He also looks damn good in hockey sweaters and old football jerseys.

Greg Wyshynski

Published on the web since 1997, The Jester's Quart is a weekly satirical look at sports, pop culture, and why NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is a jackass. Columnist Greg Wyshynski is the Features Editor for SportsFan Magazine in Washington, DC, and the Senior Sports Editor for The Connection Newspapers of Northern Virginia. He has received over 25 Virginia Press Association awards.
E-mail Wyshynski at greg@sportsfanmagazine.com.

The Sports Curmudgeon

The Sports Curmudgeon rants on all that is inane or just plain silly in sports. Some of the best items from his columns appear on SportsFanMagazine.com every week. He can be read daily at www.sportscurmudgeon.com.

Mark Chalifoux

The (sports) Gospel According to Mark runs every Tuesday and is the infallible word on the world of sports. Mark Chalifoux is a Cincinnati native and a SportsFan Magazine columnist. One of the remaining few hockey fans in the country, Mark has done two stints as a color analyst in the ECHL and spent three years as an IHL off-ice official. You can email Mark at Rockne48@und.com.

Bob Ekstrom

One marvelous night when the October moon danced upon the Bambino’s grave, a Nation of tormented souls were set free. There were legions, and their story had to be told. Some took their gospels to the streets, others proclaimed the good news over the relentless airwaves of sports talk radio. Bob Ekstrom turned to the printed word. His ramblings can now be found in a New England community paper if, of course, you can find the community. If not, there’s always Thursdays right here on SFM.

Dave Zirin

Dave Zirin is the News Editor of the Prince George's Post, for which he writes the weekly column, Edge of Sports. He is the monthly sports commentator for Air America's 'So What Else Is News'. Zirin's writing has also appeared in THE SOURCE, Common Dreams, The College Sporting News, basketball.com, alternet, The Black Sports Network, Counterpunch, Dodgers Dugout, sports-central.org, The San Fransisco Bay View, Z-Net, The International Socialist Review, War-Times, football.com, The Fairmont Post, and The Afro-American. He can be reached at editor@edgeofsports.com.

Sean Sweeney

A sportswriter since the age of 16, Sean Sweeney's "Thoughts From Press Row" is an informative look at the world of sports and gives insight into the way things should be. A card-carrying member of Red Sox Nation since birth, Sweeney's rambling prose has delighted readers throughout Central Massachusetts since October 23, 1993 -- the night Joe Carter put the Blue Jays on the map -- and on this fabulous thing known as the Internet since January 2004. When he is not writing, he spends his time muck-raking, hopping down the Massachusetts Turnpike on his pogo stick, and wondering why NASCAR just doesn't disappear. He can be reached at seanmsweeney1@yahoo.com.

Wes Johnson

It all began as doodles on the wall, which were not critically well recieved at all, his strips in the Army newspaper were almost grounds for treason. His work is now appearing in Sports Fan Magazine, which doesn't effect national security. JOE FAN is the name of the strip, and it appeals to the man who is able to laugh at himself, and the woman who has been laughing at him all along. He can be reached at mainpage2@wesjohnson.net.

Steve Beagrie

Steve Beagrie was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1976. In the year 2000, suddenly, and for no apparent reason, he quit his boring job and enrolled at Ruskin College, Oxford, to study English and Creative Writing. He studied it, now has another boring job back in Scotland, where he does his creative writing on the sly while at work. Due to birth and heritage he is doomed to support the Scottish club, Aberdeen. Somehow, a neighbor who was a fanatical fan of the American football club, The Washington Redskins, force fed him NFL football back in the 1980s when he was young and impressionable. Now the poor bugger follows Aberdeen and DC area sports teams too. He shares an unnerving similarity in looks to the movie creature Shrek, and and yet reluctantly agreed to offer a photograph. Oh yeah, he also manages a band called "omniblob." Help him, please, read his soccer column.

The Visitor's Locker

The Visitor's Locker features some of the nation's best sports writing. Our visiting writers cover a variety of subjects, branding each topic with their unique style. SportsFanMagazine.com welcomes submissions for this column. For more information e-mail greg@sportsfanmagazine.com.
